Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-Main), formerly All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is a national entrance exam held for candidates seeking to pursue an engineering course from various colleges across the country. JEE Main and JEE Advanced are two different exams.
JEE Main is the first stage of the IIT JEE entrance exam. It is a common entrance exam for admission to the National Institute of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and some other colleges designated as “centrally funded technical institutes (CFTIs)”.
JEE Advanced exam is conducted for entry into 23 IITs and some other prestigious universities like IISC Bangalore, IIST Thiruvananthapuram, etc.. Only the students selected in JEE Main are eligible for appearing in JEE advanced. Approximately the top 2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main are eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exam. According to the statistics of 2017, out of 12 lakhs students that appeared, only 11,000 students are qualified in JEE-Advanced, i.e. just 0.92%. Having this tough competition in view, Vignan prepares the student to be in top 1% in India.
NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. It is a single entrance exam for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS) and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.) in government/private medical or dental colleges in India. The conducting authority of NEET UG is the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is a group of autonomous government public medical universities of higher education. At present, there are 23 AIIMS campuses in India out of which 19 are functioning and the rest are under construction. Till 2019, medical aspirants who had dreamed of joining one of the AIIMS institutes were required to clear the AIIMS MBBS examination. From the academic year 2020, admission to undergraduate medical courses in AIIMS are given on the basis of NEET score.
The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), funded by Indian central government, is a premier medical college of India. JIPMER was first established on 1 January 1823, and it is the oldest institute teaching European medicine in Asia. Admission for the MBBS program at JIPMER, Karaikal & JIPMER, Puducherry will be given on the basis of NEET score.
